COSPLAY: The Series is calling all its friends, fans, supporters, and enthusiasts to take part in our 2012 casting call for a chance to make an appearance on your favorite web series!
Where and when?
Application opens on March 4th, 2012, online and worldwide. Audition finals and public announcement will take place in Bandung on April 22nd, 2012 at CTS Anniversary Event. Venue and other details will follow later in the year.
Do I have to reside in Jakarta/Bandung?
No. All submissions will be done online, and those who get shortlisted but are not able to come to the finals event may submit a video per our later instructions instead.
You will, however, be required to be present on set, which may be located in Bandung, Jakarta, or, in rare occasions, more exotic places in Indonesia (mountains, beaches, etc.), during the time of filming, which may take from one up to seven days depending on the role you are assigned.
Filming for Season 3 will take place in July and August 2012. Specific schedules will be given only to those who have been called forward to film for Season 3.
Do I have to be a resident of Indonesia? Do I have to be able to speak Indonesian?
Nope! We recognize the international nature of our fan base, so all of the above still apply even if you are not a resident of Indonesia. We have roles that involve speaking in foreign languages or no speaking at all, so if you are really talented, we will find something for you! ;)
Do I have to be a cosplayer?
No. We have non-cosplaying roles as well, so if you are a non-cosplayer but would still like to take part in filming to showcase your other talents and/or build portfolio for your acting career, feel free to apply! We recognize that the cosplay and filming world has a lot to offer from non-cosplayers as well :)
If you want to apply as a crewmember instead, scroll down to the bottom.
How do I apply?
Send us ONE JPEG image, either through e-mail (contact@cosplaytheseries.com), Facebook, or DeviantArt. If you are posting a link on Facebook, MAKE SURE your privacy setting for the picture is set to PUBLIC so we can see it. Do NOT send more than one file; everything must be collaged into one JPEG file as shown in example. Needless to say you must already Like our Facebook page ;)
The JPEG file should include both a non-cosplay close-up and one or more full-body cosplay pictures of yourself. If you are not a cosplayer, just send performance or modeling pictures, or pictures of yourself in presentable clothes. Collage all the files into one image.
The description of that file should include:
- Your thoughts on CTS in general and why you are interested in joining. This is very important as we will judge you greatly on how interested you are in the project.
- Your preferred name (can be real name or stage name), age, and height.
- If you are submitting an original character cosplay or if you would prefer to act a certain kind of character in the film, tell us about it here.
- Links to your other stuff, e.g. cosplay videos, performance videos, photos and illustrations, etc. Surprise us with your talents, even if they may seem unrelated to cosplaying!
And then what?
If we like you, CTS director Bonni Rambatan will write to you personally. After several private interviews, you may be asked to do a video or simply meet CTS cast and crew, or you may be asked to come directly to the finals on April 22nd with specific instructions on lines and costumes; there is no set formula, so don’t feel odd if you progress differently from others.
We will try to respond to every application, but please be patient if you still have not received yours. Get ready to receive instructions as odd as, “Take a cell phone recording of yourself walking down the streets nervously as if you are being stalked,” or “Eat an ice cream in front of a webcam for 30 seconds, sad and alone, reciting the line below.”
Don’t forget to tell your friends to Like your photo! We don’t use it to judge your final score, but it helps to learn how popular you are in your community :)
What roles are you auditioning for?
For the next season, we are auditioning for two male antagonists, two female protagonists, and two neutral child characters, in addition to a number of background characters. We may, however, choose to accept more or less as the audition progresses. If you’re a male wanting to be a protagonist, or a female wanting to be an antagonist, do send your application still as there can be more roles we could use.
If you think you are interesting enough and can propose your own character for our franchise, we may consider further discussions to include you. If you think you have unique talents (singing, dancing, stunts, etc.), do tell us about it for further consideration. We are highly open and collaborative! :)
Please note that we audition not only for the next season, so there may be more than six new talents accepted. See point below.
If accepted, will I appear in Season 3?
Not necessarily. When we did our last casting call in 2010, we found too many talents that we had to spread out their appearance throughout several seasons—we even have talents that have not yet come out! We got a lot more than what we asked for and thus the CTS family was born with over two dozen talents.
When you get accepted, you may or may not directly get a role in our next filming. We will call you when the time/script calls for your appearance.
Will there be money involved?
Application is free. However, please note that CTS is an independent franchise that rewards no monetary returns to its talents and participants and expects full cooperation from its talents. You will be expected to sustain for yourself throughout auditions and filming process, and may or may not be charged for collective technical purposes such as building special props or your own transport to the filming locations.
Note that this may change in the future if and when we do get bigger sponsors and/or investors, but for the time being, expect indie-style, no-budget productions :)
Is there an age limit?
Everybody under the age of 18 must provide an authorized consent from their parent or guardian and preferably be accompanied by an adult during filming and auditions.
I want to get involved, but I cannot/do not want to act. Can I apply as a crewmember or other positions?
Yes! Additional hands are always welcome. To apply as a crewmember, simply e-mail contact@cosplaytheseries.com telling us your skills and experiences and why you would like to join the CTS crew. Experience is a plus point but not necessary; we value enthusiasm, teamwork, appreciation of other members, and the willingness to get your hands dirty as the core values of our production team instead.
Please do note that crewmembers are expected to work for long hours on set without the glory that the actors and actresses of CTS may receive, and still without monetary reward! If you don’t mind all that and would still like the experience, learning, and portfolio building, however, please do write us an e-mail :)
Please note also that we do not approve all crewmember applications. If you’re not in at your first try, please be patient!
I have other questions that are not yet addressed here.
Please write us a message or comment on our page or e-mail contact@cosplaytheseries.com. We’ll be sure to get back to you and help you out ASAP! :D
Thanks for your interest! ^__^
